Gabriella Strümpel was born in the USA, of a Hungarian mother and a German father. She began playing the cello when she was 6. A year later she moved to Berlin.
Her professional training began with Christoph Richter at the “Folkwang-Hochschule” in Essen, Germany, where she graduated with honours. At the Cracow Mozart Academy, she worked with musicians such as Sándor Végh, Boris Pergamenschikow and Thomas Riebl.
She then studied with Wolfgang Boettcher and Alexandra Müller at the “Hochschule der ünste” (now “Universität der Künste”) in Berlin. In 1997 she received her concert soloist diploma “Konzertexamen”. As a part of her final exam she performed the Dvorák cello concerto with the “Berliner Symphoniker”. Parallel to her conservatory studies Gabriella attended numerous master classes with musicians such as Anner Bylsma, Uzi Wiesel, Steven Isserlis, János Starker, György Kurtág, and most importantly and intensively György Sebök. She won the 2nd prize at the German national youth competition “Jugend musiziert” and the “Folkwangpreis” as a member of Trio Rossignol. Gabriella has been a member of the Flemish Radio Orchestra in Belgium (now Brussels Philharmonic) since 1997. In 1999 she was guest principal cellist of the Brussels opera orchestra “Théatre Royal de la Monnaie”.

Rachel Andrist was born and raised in Canada. She recieved her Bachelor of Music from the University of Regina and her Master of Music from the St.Louis Conservatory. Later she attended the Professional Studies Program of the Cleveland Institute of Music and studied Lieder with Martin Isepp at the Banff School of Fine Arts.

Since the mid-90s Rachel Andrist has worked extensively with singers. She was on the faculty of the Opera School of the University of Toronto, served as the Music Director for the Opera on a Shoestring in Glasgow as well as for the Opera Studio production of Riders to the Sea by Ralph Vaughan Williams at the Théatre de la Monnaie in Brussels. She has been a member of the music staff at the English National Opera, the Scottish Opera, Glasgow, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, the Nederlandse Opera and the Salzburger Festspiele. Since 2006 she has been a vocal coach for the Opera Akademiet in Copenhagen and for the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth in Brussels. Since 1997 she has been “chef de chant » at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, Brussels.

Orgel Concert

Koncert: , Orgelpark, AmszterdamSzilagyi Gyula levelebol: ’... 1988-99 kozott eltem Amszterdamban, ekkor a Sweelinck konzervatoriumon (mai neven Conservatorium van Amsterdam) vegeztem tanulmanyaimat orgona-, zongora- es Egyhazi Zene szakokon. Ezalatt az ido alatt a Mikes-nek is tagja voltam, lelekben meg most is annak erzem magam, noha 1999 ota az Iberiai Felsziget lakoja vagyok. A Szovetseg elorehaladottabbkor u 'orokifju' generacioja meg bizonyara emlekszik is ram, nehany alkalommal kozremukodtem rendezvenyeiken. Toth Miklos egesz egyszeruen csak ugy fogalmazott, hogy en voltam a 'Hollandiai Magyar Szovetseg orgonistaja' .Az alkalom, hogy ezuton fordulok a Szovetseghez, tudniillik az, hogy egy meghivast szeretnek kozze tenni. Marcius 11-en kedden este 20:15 orakor az amszterdami Orgelpark (korabbi Parkkerk) koncertteremben jatszom egy orgonaestet kizarolag magyar muvekbol, melyre nagy tisztelettel hivogatom a hollandiai magyar kozosseg tagjait. Az esemeny egyebirant azert is kulonleges, mivel a specialisan orgonakoncertteremm e lett, teljesen felujitott muemlek protestans (Ned. Herv.) templomepuletben - melyben jomagam voltam 1994-ig az utolso egyhazi orgonista - eloszor tuz programjara magyar musort, 'Van Kodaly tot Gardonyi - Landenportret' cimmel.
